PFLAG In conjunction with the HiTOPS First & Third Program (a support program for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered youth), HiTOPS supports a local Princeton chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). PFLAG is a support and advocacy group for those with a loved one who is gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered. While PFLAG is independent of HiTOPS, our organizations work together closely because PFLAG provides an important support resource for parents of the GLBT youth with whom we work. PFLAG Princeton meets at Trinity Church in Princeton on the second Monday evening of every month. PFLAG is a national non-profit organization with a membership of over 77,000 households and more than 425 affiliates worldwide. This vast grassroots network is supported by the PFLAG national office in Washington, DC. PFLAG provides parents with an opportunity to gain support from each other and become advocates for their children. PFLAG's Vision PFLAG members, the parents, families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered persons, celebrate diversity and envision a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively. PFLAG welcomes the participation and support of all who share in, and hope to realize, this vision. PFLAG's Mission Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
