A Message from HiTops’ Board of Trustees

With mixed emotions, we are writing to let you know of a transition underway at HiTops. Elizabeth Casparian, who’s been part of the HiTops staff for over 11 years, informed the Board in February that she would be stepping down from her post to pursue other interests effective March 31st.

"I’ve been so fortunate to have been a part of HiTops for so many years, both as a Board Member and subsequently as Education Director and Executive Director. Adolescent sexual health education is my life’s work, and I take great pride in the difference the organization has made in the lives of young people." -Elizabeth Casparian Executive Director 2008-2016

“I’ve been so fortunate to have been a part of HiTops for so many years, both as a Board Member and subsequently as Education Director and Executive Director. Adolescent sexual health education is my life’s work, and I take great pride in the difference the organization has made in the lives of young people.”
Elizabeth Casparian

Elizabeth helped position the organization as a leader in adolescent health education, both locally and nationally. Her expertise and experience has helped the organization understand and address the changing needs of diverse groups of youth. She noticed changes in the healthcare landscape and the needs of young people, and worked to shift the organization’s focus to prevention and ensuring adolescents have the tools they need for safe passage to adulthood. She expanded service to include work in Trenton, and prioritized LGBTQ+ inclusive work throughout all of HiTops services. Because of Elizabeth’s expertise and stewardship, HiTops programs are held in the highest regard, and more importantly are making a difference in people’s lives.

With the news of Elizabeth’s departure, the board has decided to bring on an Interim Executive Director to aid a thoughtful approach to the leadership transition, and provide guidance and direction to the organization.

The Interim Executive Director is Bill Schofield, of the Schofield Group. Bill has over 25 years of proven nonprofit leadership and fundraising management experience. Prior to forming his consulting practice, he was President & CEO of United Way of Bucks County. He also served two terms on the HiTops Board, including the position of President. Bill resides in Princeton with his wife, Ashley, and two school-aged children.

Bill has been onsite with Elizabeth as she helps him become familiar with the organization, staff and stakeholders. In addition, Elizabeth has graciously made herself available as a support in the months ahead.  If you would like to reach out to Bill, he can be reached by email at bschofield@hitops.org. The search for the next Executive Director will begin this fall.

Please join the Board of HiTops in wishing Elizabeth well in her future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Claire Jacobus, Board President
